The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a working visit to Warsaw met with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda, the press service of the Ukrainian President.

It is noted that Duda thanked Poroshenko for honoring the victims of the Volyn tragedy, in Warsaw and called it a very powerful gesture that will begin a new phase in relations between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples. In turn Poroshenko has invited the Polish President to visit the Polish village Sagrini, where the dead are buried Ukrainians.

The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the field of security and issues of bilateral relations.

“The Ukrainian head of state thanked the Polish President for his invitation to the summit of the NATO and in the framework of this event the meeting of the Commission Ukraine – NATO at the highest level”, – stated in the message.

It is reported that the interlocutors highly assessed the level of bilateral cooperation in the defense sphere. In this context they noted the importance of concluding a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the defense sphere.

Also, the two leaders stressed the importance of joint successful cooperation experience in the framework of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade (Litpolukrbrig).

In addition, Poroshenko invited him to visit Ukraine during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of its independence.
