Durov explained the extradition of terrorists in the Telegram

Дуров объяснил выдачу террористов в Telegram

Pavlo Durov said that changing the rules service will not lead to the termination of its lock in Russia

This should make messenger a less attractive platform for those involved in this distribution of terrorist propaganda.

The founder of the messenger Telegram Pavel Durov explained the decision to change the privacy policy legislative rules of the European Union, namely changes in the regulations on data protection GDPR (General rules on data protection, which requires media companies to obtain the consent of users to the collection and processing of personal data). He said this on Tuesday, August 28, in his Telegram channel.

“We reserved the right to pass the IP-addresses and telephone numbers of terrorists to the relevant services according to the court decision,” confirmed the actor.

He noted that this should make messenger a “less attractive place for those who is engaged in the distribution of terrorist propaganda”, no matter if using a company such a right.

In his opinion, there are two reasons why changing the rules of the service will not lead to the termination of its lock on the territory of Russia. First, in Russia, the company is required to provide “not numbers and IP addresses of terrorists according to the court, but something fundamentally different – access to messages, and all users.”

Secondly, said Durov, the messenger does not consider “any request from the Russian service of”, as in Russia, the service is “outside the law”.

“Our privacy policy does not apply to the situation in Russia. So we continue the resistance,” he said.

Earlier it became known that a Telegram can transmit intelligence information about terrorists.
