In 2013 the cost of parliamentary elections in Germany increased by 16%.

The cost of the elections to the German Bundestag in the current year will increase up to the amount of 92 million euros. This was announced on Saturday, August 26, Saarbrücker Zeitung newspaper citing estimates of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Germany, based on the experience of the previous elections.

The increase in the value of the current parliamentary elections are primarily caused by a price increase on postage and the cost of support staff.

In 2013 elections to the Bundestag cost taxpayers 77 million euros. This means that the current elections will be 16% more expensive, the newspaper notes.

Earlier it was reported that German law enforcement will hire hackers because of fears that the Russian authorities will try to influence elections to the Bundestag, which will take place in September 2017.
