Ephraim arrest extended

Ефремову продлили арест

Olexander Yefremov will be behind bars until 3 December inclusive

Starobilsk district court of Lugansk region extended the former regional measure of restraint in form of detention.

The former head of the Party of regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the VII convocation Oleksandr Yefremov will remain in custody until December 3. The decision adopted by the Starobelsk district court in Luhansk region on Friday, 5 October.

“The court decided to extend Ephraim Alexander Sergeyevich, the period of detention for 60 days – until December 3, 2018, inclusive,” reads the court’s decision.

It should be noted at the previous meeting, MP Yuriy Miroshnichenko made a statement about his readiness to take Yefremov on bail, but the court has refused to do this.

Ephraim was detained July 30, 2016 at the airport in Kiev. GPU pushed him on suspicion of five counts, including treason.

In turn, Yefremov filed a lawsuit in the European court of human rights about the illegality of his arrest.
