Ancient sword of the Viking age, confiscated last winter at the Estonian-Russian border crossing point Luhamaa, will be transferred to Ukraine on may 12, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“The day before in Estonia will arrive delegation from the Ministry of culture of Ukraine, which on may 13 will take a historical discovery in Kiev”, – said the Ambassador of Ukraine in Estonia Viktor Kryzhanivskyi.

Ancient weapons were discovered by officers of the Tax and customs Board of Estonia during the inspection at the border of one of the trucks. The driver – the citizen of Belarus – does not have the permission to transportation of the rarity. During the examination revealed that the sword about a thousand years, and at auctions he stood to make at least 17 thousand euros.

According to the initial conclusions of experts of Department of protection of monuments of Estonia, weapon X-XI centuries was found, most likely, in the North of Russia and Estonia was going to give Nakhodka Russia. Later, however, Ukraine said that the sword was discovered in the Volyn region and illegally transferred to Russia.

Estonian experts have taken the Ukrainian version, and the sword was passed to Kyiv.

As reported, in late 2015, the Norwegian found a Viking sword, which more than a thousand years. The sword is preserved in unusually good condition.
