Ex-defense Minister Lebedev announced on the wanted list on suspicion in assistance to law enforcement officers to disperse Euromaidan

Attorney General’s office announced in tracing the ex-Minister of defence Pavel Lebedev on suspicion of assisting law enforcement officers in the dispersal of the Euromaidan, according to “Ukrainian news” with reference to the answer of GPU to inquiry.

In particular, the response of the GPU stated that the Department of special investigation is investigating the criminal proceedings on suspicion of the ex-Minister of defense that he joined the criminal organization’s former President Viktor Yanukovych, using his official position, assisted the police in suppressing the protests of activists of the Euromaidan.

He is accused of committing a crime under part 1 of article 255 (participation in a criminal organization created with the purpose of committing a grave or especially grave crime) of the Criminal code.

“In conjunction with failure to find the whereabouts of the suspect he is wanted”, – stated in the message.

This explains that the special (accelerated) investigation against Lebedev, as the legislation does not provide for such possibility for suspects under article 255 of the Criminal code.

“Also arrested the property of ex-Minister, as in his case declared a civil suit, not set damage and does not provide for confiscation of property,” – said the GPU.

Recall that in March the chief military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios have already noted that the investigation announced by former Ministers of defence Lebedev and Yezhel, as well as former chief of General staff — chief of the APU Yuri Ilyin. However, did not elaborate on the basis of any suspicion.

Earlier it was reported that in regard to Lebedev in Ukraine opened criminal proceedings on economic crimes.

Lebedev was the Minister of defense of Ukraine from 24 December 2012 to 27 February 2014. 27 Feb 2014 according to the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dismissed. However, before his resignation on 21 February left Kiev and left for Sevastopol.
