Ex-Ukrainian Stepko: My move to Russia caused a lot of negative feedback

Экс-украинец Степко: Мой переезд в Россию вызвал массу негативных откликов

Oleg Stepko, who played for Ukraine and Azerbaijan, commented on the Russian citizenship.

The former Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Stepko said his decision to leave Azerbaijan to Russia and to his is the third sports citizenship.

“If I had stayed in Azerbaijan or returned back to Ukraine, that would end with the sport. But I don’t want you in the gym for 20 years and intends to develop further. But sport is sport, you will be able to get on here – I will try to show the result.

I know that my moving to Russia caused a lot of responses, many of them negative. Absolutely do not need to take on faith the fact that now everywhere write about me that I got third citizenship, and so on.

About their true causes of the transition I speak only when I indicate for Russia a result. No one knows why I went to Ukraine and broke up with the guys and Federation without any conflicts,” Stepko said.

Earlier, the chief coach of Ukraine in gymnastics Gennady Satinsky told iSport.ua about the situation with the restoration of Oleg Vernaeve and the team’s preparation for the European Championships.
