“Today we removed a few pages, groups and accounts for the inaccurate concerted actions in Facebook and Instagram. Part of this activity has origins in Iran and Russia”, − said in a statement.

In her words, “Iran” and “Russian” accounts were not linked, but “used a similar tactic, creating a network of accounts in order to enter other misleading about who they are and what they do.”

It is noted that was removed 652 “Iranian” account, aimed at an audience in the middle East, Latin America, USA and the UK.

“We have removed pages, groups and accounts that can be associated with sources that the U.S. government previously identified as Russian military intelligence service. It has nothing to do with activities that we found in Iran,” added the company.

Earlier, the management of Facebook has notified US authorities about the removal of dozens of suspicious accounts.
