Ukraine will submit today in the third Committee of the UN General Assembly a draft resolution on human rights violations in the Crimea.

The voting on the Ukrainian draft resolution of the UN General Assembly about human rights abuses in Russia-annexed Crimea could happen in the coming weeks. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, reports Radio Liberty.

“Russia can not block a General Assembly resolution. Second, we define the date of the vote. It will be in November. Maybe after two or three weeks,” – said Klimkin.

He recalled that in Ukraine on 31 October in new York will submit to the third Committee of the UN General Assembly a draft resolution on human rights violations in the Crimea. The text of the resolution reads, in particular, the support of Ukraine in the issues of de-occupation of Crimea, there is a demand for Russia to implement the decision of the International court of justice in the restoration of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people and the availability of education in the Ukrainian language.

Klimkin expressed hope that the adoption by the UN General Assembly a new draft resolution on violation of human rights in the annexed Crimea to help Ukraine in international courts against Russia. According to the Ukrainian Minister, this resolution should become the basis for further de-occupation of the Peninsula.

Earlier, the UN said that Russia occupied Crimea, the situation with human rights has worsened.
