An international group of scientists have found a star EBLM J0555-57Ab, which is the smallest of known for today, reports Popular Mechanics. The full study was published in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics.

It is reported that the mass exceeds Jupiter was shining 85 times, while its dimensions are only slightly more than the Saturn.

The publication notes that the star is part of a triple system, along with two other luminaries EBLM J0555-EBLM J0555 and 57A-57B. The system is located 600 light years from Earth in the constellation Sculptor.

Currently, astronomers are studying the ways of the origination of the ternary system. Initially they believed that EBLM J0555-57Ab is a large exoplanet, but recent observations have shown that it is not.
