French Engie provides 20% of gas supplies to Ukraine

The company is ready to help Kyiv to become an exporter and supplier of gas.

French energy company Engie provides a significant portion of natural gas supplies to Ukraine from the Western border. About it reports a press-service of the Cabinet.

It is noted that on Friday Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with the Executive Director Engie Isabelle Kosher.

“French energy giant Engie is ready to contribute fully to the development of the oil and gas sector of Ukraine, including the creation of a flexible gas market”, – stated in the message on results of the meeting.

It says that Ukrainian market is one of the strategic for Engie, and now the leadership of energogigant accumulating the possibilities of further cooperation with Kiev on projects increasing gas production in Ukraine.

“At the time the Engie was one of the first companies, which began the process of delivering gas to Ukraine according to Western directions and now provides up to 20% of such supplies”, – stated in the message.

The Prime Minister welcomed the decision of the Engie to take part in the development of oil and gas complex of Ukraine.

“We note the ambition of the reforms, particularly in the oil and gas sector, which submits to your government. Our goal in Ukraine is to increase the local production of gas to, in the end, Ukraine has become an exporter and supplier of gas. And we are ready to accompany your country on the path of reforms”, – said the Executive Director of the company.

As reported Корреспондент.netin 2016 Ukraine bought natural gas from 15 companies from different EU countries. Among them, Engie French, German RWE Supply and Trading, Uniper Global Commodities, TrailStone, a British Shell Energy Europe, Swiss Axpo Trading, Statoil Norwegian, Polish PGNiG, the Czech CEZ and others.
