The bill for customs clearance of used cars will drop significantly

Excise duty on used cars will be reduced to 2 to 28 times.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill, which until 31 December 2017, significantly reduced rates of excise duty for used cars, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

For the corresponding bill voted 237 deputies.

According to the introduction of the second reading of the amendment law comes into force on the first day of the month following the month of its publication.

The document proposes to amend the Transitional provisions of the Tax code, according to which the excise duty on used cars will be reduced in 2-28 time (is 0.102-2.2 euros per 1 cu cm of the engine volume) depending on the type of vehicle and capacity of its engine.

In the explanatory note to the bill №3251, the authors of which are about a hundred deputies, it was noted that against the background of hryvnia devaluation and decline in the purchasing power of the population considerably decreased car sales, which leads to a reduction of jobs in manufacturing and auto sales and lower revenues.

At the same time, experts note that high excise rates have been virtually the only barrier to mass importation of used cars.

According to analysts AUTO-Consulting, the bill for customs clearance of used cars will drop significantly.
