Goncharuk promises economic growth, reducing poverty and tariffs

The newly appointed Prime Minister called the sharp economic growth the main task of the Ukrainian government.

Prime Minister Alexey Goncharuk tawlae that in the next five years Ukraine’s economy will grow by 40%. About this he said at a government meeting with the participation of President Vladimir Zelensky on Monday, September 2.

“The main goals set before the government is, first, economic growth. We set a goal to Ukraine’s economy increased in the next 5 years at least 40%,” – said Goncharuk.

According to him, revitalization of the economy will lead to the emergence of about a million jobs, which is a key priority for the government.

Goncharuk announced plans of reducing poverty and improving the living wage. “Now the cost of living is not reality,” he said.

However, he added that part of this issue are tariffs, so the government is already working to reduce the final amount in the payment.

The Prime Minister also noted that before the end of the month should be presented to the government program, which will present to Parliament.

Earlier Zelensky said that Ukraine’s GDP will grow 5-7% per year.

Note, according to the state statistics service, Ukraine’s GDP growth for the first half of 2019 was 4.6% compared to the same period in 2018, while in the first quarter growth rate was below 2.5 per cent.
