Volodymyr Groysman announced the consolidation area in Ukraine

The Prime Minister announced the consolidation area in Ukraine with the aim to create about 100 of these administrative-territorial units.

In Ukraine through consolidation should be created about 100 districts. On Wednesday, 5 December, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman on the Forum of local self-government in Kiev, reports UNN.

“We need to form a new capable areas, because we understand the issues created when communities and regions are different in number. Clearly, we will need to do the consolidation area, and it is completely normal and inevitable way. We need to make about 100 districts in the country”, – said the head of government.

According to him, the consolidation area in Ukraine is “not a question of quantity but quality issue”.

According to the Prime Minister, it is better to have 100 districts with “high-quality” authority, financial resources, with the power to be “adequate” to perceive the needs of citizens and to make decisions.

Besides, said Groisman, Ukraine should be created in 1600 consolidated territorial communities.

As you know, as of 1 January 2007 in Ukraine there are 490 districts (excluding districts in cities).

Regions of Ukraine is administrative-territorial units of the second order. They are Autonomous republics, regions or cities of national importance. City of regional significance may also be divided into areas in the cities, which are administrative units of the third order.

Earlier, the Rada failed to rename Dnipropetrovsk oblast in Sichevskyi. The name was supported only by 202 MP at 226 required.

After President Petro Poroshenko has proposed to name the area of the Dnieper.
