Ukraine has managed to stop the decline and move on to economic growth.

Ukraine’s economy has lost more than 16% of GDP due to the Russian aggression. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the meeting with Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Kyiv on Monday, July 10.

“We managed to overcome the challenges in the economy. Lost due to the aggression of Russia, more than 16% of GDP. But we stopped the drop, and moved on to economic growth,” wrote the Prime Minister in his Twitter.

Groisman added that because of Russian aggression Ukraine is in difficult economic conditions. “Because of the aggression we live in difficult economic conditions and provide more than 5% of GDP on defense. Have casualties among military and civilians,” – he wrote.

The Prime Minister stressed that now the Ukrainian government face a very serious problem. “How to accelerate our economic growth, how, most importantly, to improve the lives of people and today we are tackling this issue to ensure the rapid implementation of reforms,” – said Groisman.

Earlier in the Global peace index, published by the Institute for Economics and peace in Sydney (Australia), it was reported that the economic losses of Ukraine from the conflict in the Donbas in 2016 amounted to 20.4% of GDP.
