Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman

The Prime Minister pointed to the technological importance of anthracite coal for Ukraine.

The loss of Ukraine because of energy blockages in the Donbas are two to four billion hryvnia per month. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman to journalists in Vinnytsia, reports the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“The blockade is solely, in my opinion, in the interests of the Russian Federation… Today 2-4 billion (UAH – ed.) every month we lose. The cost of the losses”, – said the head of government.

He pointed to the technological importance of anthracite coal for Ukraine: “one-Third of Ukraine’s electricity is produced from coal: – anthracite, which is not mined in government-controlled areas, some of the coal grade “G” produced in the controlled territory. Additionally, anthracite coal is needed for the needs of Ukrainian metallurgy in the field which employs 300 thousand people.”

Groisman noted that in the absence of supply of the required coal companies can buy it only in USA or the Russian Federation.

“If someone believes that the need to purchase coal in the Russian Federation, I am totally against, because it is trade with the country of the enemy, where we, Ukrainians, have to pay currency in order to buy the goods, which we are seriously dependent”, he said.

In addition, the head of the government opposed “any trading in blood” and was opposed to any contraband.

Earlier in Kiev declared about possible sanctions against the new owners of the Ukrainian enterprises in selected districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
