Grybauskaite, Duda and Poroshenko discussed the sanctions

Грибаускайте, Дуда и Порошенко обсудили санкции

The presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland discussed the anti-Russian sanctions, in particular the incident in the Kerch Strait.

Next week the European Union must declare how many Russians will be included in the “black list” after the capture of the Ukrainian ship near the Kerch Strait. This was stated by President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite during a visit to Poland on Friday, 22 February where he met with presidents Aja Duda and Peter Poroshenko, informs Interfax-Ukraine.

“They are known to me, but the comments still early,” – said Grybauskaite.

To the question whether there is sufficient expansion of the “black list”, she responded that “the purpose of sanctions is not a number”. “The purpose of sanctions is the statement that the EU sees what is happening, and it does not tolerate,” – said the President.

She promised to offer to impose additional sanctions against Russia if it “will continue an aggressive policy” concerning Ukraine.

“If the events will continue to grow bad, and Russia will not talk and will continue its aggressive policies in Ukraine on the Kerch Peninsula, then no doubt, we’ll suggest additional sanctions,” – said Grybauskaite.

As the press service of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, in turn, said Thu Ukraine expects the international community to increase pressure on Russia.

“I expect increasing pressure on Russia, including through sanctions. Because sanctions are not Russia’s responsibility. Sanctions – is a mechanism to motivate Russia to sit at the negotiating table, to fulfill its obligations to stop the war,” said Poroshenko.

Earlier today, Poroshenko, Duda and Grybauskaite met with the personnel of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian military units of Litpolukrbrig named after the Great Hetman Constantine Ostrog in Lublin.
