Half of Ukrainians believe that the land owner should have the right to sell it

50.4% of Ukrainians believe that the land owner should have the right to sell it, and 28.1 per cent opposed.

Half the population of Ukraine believes that people should have the right to free sale of their land. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Fund Democratic initiatives name Ilka Kucheriv.

Do not support the right to sell land, 28% of Ukrainians (33% of the owners of the land). Another 21% of Ukrainians do not have their own opinions about it.

Among the city residents support the right of land owners to sell 51% (against 27%). Among the villagers, respectively, 46% and 35%. More regional support the right of the owner on the sale of land in the Western region ( “for” – 62%, against 14%) and the least in the Donbas (for, 44% against and 43%).

One third of Ukrainians (33%) believe that the earth can not in principle be the object of sale, at the same time, only 8% believe that land should be freely available, without any restrictions.

Among owners of land shares the vast majority – 51% – hand over a land rent (40% of the rent officially, and only 11% informally, and not issued the relevant documents).

In the case of the lifting of the moratorium 48% of landowners responded that they no action will not, only 7% are going to sell the land or part of land, and 4% – on the contrary, to buy more land.

The survey was conducted from 13 to 20 June 2019 in all regions of Ukraine except the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. 2017 polled respondents aged over 18 years old. Theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.

We will remind that on September 2 at a meeting with heads of Parliament, government and law enforcement agencies President Vladimir Zelensky ordered that the government prepared and the Parliament adopted before December 1 of the bill on the land market of agricultural purpose and lifted the moratorium on land sales.

Before October 1, the government must develop and submit to Parliament a bill on the land market of agricultural purpose till January 1, 2021 information about the land should be filled with the state land cadastre.
