Human rights activists appealed to the Russian government.

International human rights organization Human Rights Watch urged the Russian government to immediately release the Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov, which is held in a psychiatric hospital. This is the website of HRW.

“Umarov should be allowed to continue treatment in the hospital where he can receive the necessary assistance. The authorities must drop trumped up charges of separatism against Umerov,” said Cooper, noting that he should not be punished for his statements about Crimea and its future.

Umerov lawyer Nikolai Polozov on air of TV channel 112 Ukraine said that the condition was not satisfactory.

“Previously, Ilmi Umerov has freed the house from mentally ill people, but now it has settled new, so to speak, the guests, and there is a threat of life, including them, because people are inadequate and you can expect anything”, – he said.
