The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Hungary are outraged by the proposal of President Petro Poroshenko to revoke the citizenship of Ukrainians with dual citizenship

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siarto has accused Ukraine of the attack on the rights of national minorities, commenting on the proposal of the President of Petro Poroshenko to adopt a law on the introduction of sanctions against Ukrainians who have dual citizenship and have participated in the elections of another country, reports Radio Liberty.

The Hungarian Minister said that “President (of Ukraine – ed.) together with the Verkhovna Rada, step by step, unprecedented cowardly and pre-planned stepping on the rights of national minorities”.

Szijjártó added that Ukraine, on the one hand, trying to get into NATO, and with another – to deprive the Ukrainian citizenship of those persons who acquired citizenship of another country – a member of NATO because it “is allegedly a threat to national security of Ukraine”.

“We are extremely outraged by the suggestion that Transcarpathian Hungarian nationality can be a threat to national security of Ukraine”, – said the foreign Minister of Hungary.

Earlier, Hungary vetoed the decision on holding in Brussels meeting of the Commission Ukraine-the NATO at level of Ministers of foreign Affairs.
