Jost Longman considers insufficient the current level of international reserves of Ukraine

The international monetary Fund estimates the target for Ukraine, the level of international reserves to $30 billion.

The international monetary Fund considers insufficient the current level of international reserves of Ukraine to maintain macro stability. This was stated by the permanent representative of IMF in Ukraine Jost Lungman during the annual conference of Fitch Ratings in Kyiv, Interfax reported on Thursday, November 15.

According to Longman, now reserves at more than $18 billion, they cover three months of future imports.

“But our assessment is that for Ukraine, this level of reserves is still low. It should be about $30 billion is not an exact figure. Therefore, the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) for the purchase of foreign currency in reserves is correct,” he said.

Jost informed Lungman said that due to the high level of corruption in Ukraine, GDP growth slowed by nearly 2% per year.

We will remind, in October the international reserves of Ukraine grew by 0.6%.
