Secretary of Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov said that in the East of our country Russia systematically tests a new weapon. He made this statement at a meeting with Chairman of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Loreta Hrauzhinene, transfers “UNIAN”.

Turchinov stressed that the European countries in the context of seeking a peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas should be clearly understood that “Russia is not a third party, and the aggressor”. “This is their weapon used for firing in the East, it is their soldiers kill Ukrainians, they started the war”, – quotes Agency the Secretary of the NSDC.

According to Turchynov, “the Russian daily fires on Ukrainian positions, while practicing the use of new weapons and new techniques of warfare, completely ignoring the basic position of the Minsk agreements”. Ukraine “every day, losing in killed and wounded of our defenders”.

Turchinov also announced that the dangerous trends that began in may, “may develop into full-scale military action”.

“We have to be prepared for adequate response to Russia’s actions. We hope that our strategic partners will not only observe the aggravation of the situation”, – he said.

According to Turchynov, the only thing that can deter Russia – strong Ukrainian army and therefore “it is extremely important for our country to obtain military assistance from the West”.

Turchinov and Hrauzhinene at the meeting stated that “as long as Russia continues aggression and occupation of part of Ukrainian territory, particularly Crimea, need not to remove and tighten sanctions”.

We will remind, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that Berlin does not recognize the legitimacy of the annexation of Crimea by Russia and destabilization does not accept Moscow’s situation in Eastern Ukraine.
