The Holy Synod intends to approve the text of the Tomos for Ukraine

Session of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate will last three days. It must approve the text of the Tomos for Ukraine.

In Istanbul on Tuesday, November 27, there will be a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which is expected to determine the date of the unifying Council in Ukraine and discussion of the text of the Tomos, reports UKRINFORM.

“This process – the text of the Tomos is a familiar procedure. It occurs without much publicity and attention. In addition, the Synod will need to consider other issues not related to Ukraine”, – said the press service of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

It is not excluded that at this Synod and will be approved the text of the Tomos.

Now the members of the Synod are preparing for the beginning of the meeting, which will last three days.

Meanwhile, sent to Istanbul by the representative of the President of Ukraine Rostyslav Pavlenko met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and discussed the final steps to the granting of the Tomos.

“On behalf of the President of Ukraine are in Istanbul, where 27-29 November, is a Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Was passed yesterday by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. We had a long, warm conversation about the events in Ukraine and about the final steps to the granting of the Tomos of autocephaly (complete independence) of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine – according to the decisions of the Synod,” – said Pavlenko Facebook.

We will remind that on October 11 Constantinople proceeded to the granting of autocephaly churches in Ukraine. And in early November President Petro Poroshenko and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed an agreement on cooperation and interaction between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

At the same time, the results of the Council of bishops of the UOC-MP has said it will not participate in the creation of a unified Church and decided to break off the Eucharistic communion with Constantinople.
