In the Kherson region law enforcement officers detained the deserter-defector who left the ranks of the Ukrainian army during the annexation of Crimea by Russia. About it reports Department of the national police in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, Monday, March 11.

“The man 1985 since 2011, he served in the naval forces of Armed forces of Ukraine and after the occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea passed to the side of the occupier, where he served under the contract”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that the man was transferred to the military Prosecutor’s office of the Odessa garrison of the southern region of Ukraine. It is reported about suspicion on charges of desertion (part 1 of article 408 of the criminal code of Ukraine). To it threatens from two till five years of imprisonment.

Recall that with the annexation of the Crimea betrayed the oath more than 70% of the APU soldiers who were on the Peninsula. From 13468 soldiers and officers only 3990 troops (29.6 per cent) remained loyal to the Motherland.
