The suspect was a local who was brought earlier to trial for drug crimes and theft.

Police in Kherson region detained previously convicted man who tried to sell passers-by a grenade RGD-5. About it reports regional management of national police on Monday, January 14.

“Aleshkovsky police asked a local resident. The man said that to him on the street unknown people came and offered to buy the subject similar to a grenade RGD-5. He remembered signs of the seller and immediately reported to the police. Within an hour the workers of the sector response Aleshkovsky police have a suspect in custody”, – is spoken in the message.

Police learned that the suspect – 39-the summer local who was brought earlier to trial for drug crimes and theft. During the personal search he seized a subject similar to an RGD-5 grenade with a fuse. The man explained that the ammunition allegedly found in the woods and planned to sell it.

Grenade seized were sent for analysis and the man was detained. Criminal proceedings opened under article about illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition (part 1 of article 263 UK of Ukraine). To the man threatens from three till seven years of prison.

Earlier in the Zaporozhye area the staff of SBU found a hiding place with ammunition. On the outskirts of one of the villages of Melitopol district, near the military unit seized six grenades f-1.

It was also reported that during 11 months of 2018, the Ukrainians withdrew 4603 kilograms of explosives, 1745 grenades and 43 mines.
