The Alliance for the first time creates a unique diplomatic mission in the partner country.

In Kiev opened the new premises of the NATO mission in Ukraine, which will include an information office of the Alliance. The opening ceremony was attended by Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“NATO for the first time in its history, creates a unique representation in Ukraine, a country which has the status of a special partner. In any other partner country of the Alliance, NATO has no such full-scale diplomatic mission,” wrote klympush-Tsintsadze on his page in Facebook.

In the new building of the NATO mission in Ukraine will also host the liaison office, Centre for information and documentation of NATO.

In turn, Stoltenberg said that the Alliance has the strong support of official Kiev.

“We will strengthen and deepen our assistance to Ukraine in different spheres… a New building and improved working conditions of the NATO mission will allow us to work more effectively to support Ukraine in implementing reforms and in strengthening its defense capability”, – said the NATO Secretary General.

The new mission of NATO in Kiev is located next to the Embassy of the United States, Sikorsky, 4-L.

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that the Alliance is working to give Ukraine the equipment of satellite communication.
