The former “people’s mayor” of Mariupol Alexander Fomenko, the court found guilty of separatism and sentenced to 6 years and 9 months imprisonment. Reported January 4, the website of Mariupol city.

As reported, on June 1, 2014 Alexander Fomenko, with the support of DNR declared himself “people’s mayor” and began his fictitious duties. The activities of the “mayor” was stopped by police officers on 12 June 2014

In court the man partially denied his guilt. He said he was all his life engaged in social activities and a rally by accident.

As stated by Fomenko, title “mayor” he was offered those present at the meeting people. The accused also said that no one from the DNR was not acquainted, knew about the organization from the Internet and called just to establish Supervisory authority over city government. Fomenko called himself a citizen of Ukraine and insisted that he did not want the organization of other States.

Having examined all witnesses and military personnel involved in the detention of “people’s mayor”, the court found him guilty of infringement of territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and was sentenced to 6 years and 9 months. The time spent in jail from the moment of detention credited to the term of sentence.

It was reported that “national mayor” of Mariupol and two of his associates were detained by the National guard.
