In Kotovsk Odessa region vandals broke into the mausoleum of Soviet military and political figure Grigory Kotovsky. About it reports site of the city hall of Kotovsk.

Vandals hacked the padlock, which locks the door of the vault, but neither the coffin with the remains of the corps commander nor his picture had not been touched.

“In the tomb with the bones, portrait Kotovsk and several wreaths in the crypt. Judging by the fact that the aforementioned were not stolen, the attackers were disappointed. It is possible that a thick layer of water on the floor of the crypt, which is always going there after rain prevented the attackers”, – stated in the message.

At the same time “Duma” informs that local authorities and the public decide how to proceed with Kotovsky’s mausoleum. Some suggest to restore it, others removed, and the body to bury.

It is noted that the first tomb to Kotovsk was built in the city, which was then called Ursula, in 1925, immediately after the assassination of the warlord. Since 1934 the mausoleum was carried out excursions, solemnly took the pioneers and held rallies. In 1941 the German invaders and occupied the city first destroyed the sarcophagus and brought out the remains of Kotovsk for burial in a common grave. At night the railway workers dug up a body and hid it before the end of the occupation. The mausoleum in Kotovsk completely restored in 1965.

In 1990-ies completely stopped the tour in the Museum-ossuary because of its emergency condition.
