In the capital on Lybidska square trying to dismantle the monument to the chekists. The stream leads the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

“Not to dismantle, how to ruin a monument to security officers trying activists. Realizing the complexity of the process, given the massiveness of the monument, activists decided, at least, to paint, and using some structures to get to the top of the monument and sledgehammers to break parts of the monument. About half an hour ago there were about fifty activists, mainly representatives of the group of companies “Azov”, which an hour ago were at the meeting at SBU, demanding the release of his brother Stanislav Krasnov. This action they call, including revenge for his imprisonment. The action is calm, there was only one woman who opposed the demolition of the monument, but those opinions are not shared, and she went”, – told the correspondent of TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

“A monument to security officers – soldiers of the Revolution” is set in 1967 in a Park in the middle of Dzerzhinsky square (later Lybidska). It is a vertical stele made of granite on which are carved two huge faces of the fighters of the revolution. The inscription on the monument reads: “a Courageous security officers, soldiers of the revolution, loyal sons of the Motherland who died fighting for Soviet power, the memory and gratitude of the people.” Today, the inscription has not survived, a monument to security officers repeatedly exposed to attacks and attempts of demolition. Monument included in the list of monuments that are to be removed. The author of the monument – the famous Ukrainian sculptor Vasily Boroday, who is the Creator of such famous monuments as the “Motherland”, the monument to founders of Kiev, known as “Rook”, as well as sculptures of Lesya Ukrainka in Mariinsky Park, the monument to Schors Shevchenko Boulevard and demolished in 1991, the monument of the October revolution.
