The editors of the Times has apologized for a map with a “Russian” Crimea

After criticism from the Embassy of Ukraine in United Kingdom, the newspaper published a formal apology.

Newspaper The Times has recognized an error in the publication, where the annexed Crimea was depicted on the map as the territory of the Russian Federation. On Monday, June 11, the statement said the publication.

“The vast majority of countries (including the UK) do not recognize the annexation by Russia in 2014, the Ukrainian Crimea and condemned it as contrary to international law. We apologize for the error. We apologize for the mistake,” – said in a statement to The Times.

In turn, the Ukrainian diplomats praised the response of the newspaper.

“Everyone can make a mistake. What is important is to recognize it and properly fix it. We are very appreciative of that.” reads Twitter of the Ukrainian Embassy in the UK.

Earlier it was reported that in the UK newspaper the Times published a map on which the Crimean Peninsula marked by the same color as that of Russia.
