The previous government had set a minimum salary for teachers. The Cabinet Goncharuk canceled this decision.

The government Alexey Goncharuk has repealed the decision of the previous Cabinet about the level of the lowest teacher salary in the amount of three minimum. About it reports a press-service of trade Union of education and science of Ukraine.

As reported, the decree was cancelled on 15 November.

“Regarding the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 822 from 10.07.2019 G. please be informed that at session of the government 15.11.2019, was taken to the CMU, which provides for the suspension of the CMU №822 2020”, – stated in the letter from the head of the Committee on education, science and innovations Sergey Babak in response to the appeal of the Union.

He also added that the budget for 2020 that November 14 was adopted by the Parliament, there are additional costs in the amount of 3,75 billion on salaries for employees in the education sector.

“According to government estimates, the increase in these costs will, in particular, to prevent the shortage of educational subventions for remuneration of pedagogical workers in 2020,” the letter reads.

Earlier it was reported that the government wants to tie teachers ‘ salaries to the number of students. Next year, the Cabinet is implementing “money follows the student”. Thus want to avoid under-funded schools with a large number of students.

Later, the Minister of education and science Anna Novosad commented on yesterday’s statement by Prime Minister Alexei Goncharuk, the principle of “money follows the student”. The principle of linking teachers ‘ salaries to the number of students, which before said Alexei Goncharuk, is not implemented. According to the Minister of education “there was a certain misunderstanding in terms.”
