In Ukraine begin raids to combat shadow employment

In Ukraine from Friday, October 5, begin large-scale inspections of entrepreneurs, who pay wages in envelopes.

Employees of Public service on labour issues will be to check both the big and small business. First and foremost, on facing those enterprises where most employees earn minimum wage, while the average for the country as of August 1 of this year makes 9 thousand 170 hryvnias.

In raids involve tax, Netpolicy, Pension Fund, local Executive authorities, civil service on labor. These agencies will need to transmit data in the Ministry, and those to the 15th of each month to report the results of inspections in the Cabinet.

Directors of companies will be identified where such violations face fines of impressive dimensions. Thus, the penalty for each unregistered employee now stands at 111, 6 thousand UAH, and the penalty for non-admission testing — to 390 thousand.

Earlier, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said that now most of the Ukrainian economy is in shadow, while employers mostly pay salaries “in envelopes”. In this regard, and there will be a big test.

Note, for the first half of 2018 in Ukraine exposed 8.8 thousand entrepreneurs who were “shadow” activity. Tax obliged them to register officially.

Note, the level of shadow economy in Ukraine for the first quarter of the current year is 33% of the official gross domestic product, which is 4 percentage points less compared to the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, the international monetary Fund estimated the size of the informal sector in the structure of Ukraine’s economy at 44.8%.
