A week of influenza and SARS are sick more than 176 thousand people. Epidemic thresholds are exceeded in four areas.
In Ukraine, for the second week in 2019 as a result of complications from the flu, has died eight people, and since the beginning of this season – 19. This was announced by the Ministry of health on Thursday, January 17.
“From 7 to 13 January 2019 registered eight fatal cases of influenza. During the reporting week with flu and SARS ill 176 381 persons, 51.8 per cent of them children under 17. Compared to last week, the incidence among adults has increased by 20.1%, and among children to 17 years – fell by 2.4%. Since the beginning of the epidemic season 2018-2019 – 19 people died (three of them children under 17 years old)”, – stated in the message.
It is noted that the incidence of SARS and influenza below the epidemic threshold.
“Epidemic thresholds are exceeded in four regions: Chernihiv (34.2%), Zhytomyr (by 13.7%), Sumy (10.7%) and Odessa (2%). In Ukraine the incidence is 11.7% below the epidemic threshold. The results of laboratory tests, 43.7% of the materials received positive results confirming the flu in circulation is dominated by influenza A (H3),” – said the Ministry of health.
Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine in recent days from the flu, two persons died: an old man in Zhytomyr and a baby in Zaporozhye. This was stated by epidemiologist, head of the Department of influenza and SARS Centre for public health MOH Oksana Artemchuk.
Since the beginning of the year in Kiev, died from influenza three people. In all three cases, cases too late sought medical help.
