Coal production declined
For seven months of the year fell by more than 12%.
As of July 2017 coal production in Ukraine decreased by 12.2% compared to the same period of 2016 and amounted to 14.4 million tons. On Tuesday, August 22, according to the State statistics service in a report on industrial production in Ukraine.
Compared to June this year, the decline was 1.9%.
Note that coal production in Ukraine declined significantly since the beginning of hostilities in the Donbass in the spring of 2014, because there was a large part of the coal mines of the country.
While on the uncontrolled part of Donbass there are major deposits of anthracite used on the lion’s share of TPP countries. In particular, of the 24 million tons of coal, which are consumed in the year the Ukrainian energy sector, more than 9 million – coal of the anthracite group.
We will remind, the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said earlier about the planned reduction of consumption of Ukraine’s anthracite in the future heating season. The government intends to modernize the power plant and to import coal. The first batch of American anthracite, the amount of 85 thousand tons will be delivered in early September.
