Temporary charge d’affaires of the USA in Ukraine is assigned to William Taylor. This was reported on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine on Tuesday, June 18.

“The U.S. Embassy in Kiev welcomes Ambassador William Taylor, who returned to Ukraine as chargé d’affaires of the United States. He will lead our team during the historic elections and transition period”, – stated in the message.

Taylor was U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine from 2006 to 2009, and was special coordinator of the State Department on Middle East issues, U.S. representative in the middle East Quartet and other diplomatic posts.

Before the appointment, Taylor served as Executive Vice President of the U.S. Institute of peace.

“I look forward to lead the team from the U.S. Embassy to build a solid working relationship with the President Zelensky and his team, other Ukrainian officials and political forces, as well as the support of our strong partnerships with public organizations and the Ukrainian people,” said Taylor.

He added that “the United States remains deeply devoted to the success of a stable, prosperous, democratic and free Ukraine, and we continue to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

It is also reported that Christine Quinn, who led the U.S. Embassy as chargé d’affaires will return to his work as the Deputy head of mission.

Earlier, the state Department confirmed the departure of the Ambassador of the USA in Ukraine. Marie Yovanovitch left his post together with the completion of office of the President of Petro Poroshenko.

It was also reported that the post of US Ambassador to Ukraine is considered so far two candidates.
