According to him, last year the courts have acquitted more than 430 people Zep cases of the Prosecutor General, security service and national police, with 81 people had been detained illegally.

According to him, if you compare the last year with 2013, the number of persons acquitted by the courts has increased 25 times in the past year 14 citizens were illegally detained, and in 2014 and 2015 for two people. “That is, the number of people illegally detained in 2017 increased in comparison with the last years in 7 times”, – said the Bahanets.

He also said that, according to statistics, every year the investigators of the Prosecutor’s office at the end of the year, the balance of criminal cases do not decrease, but increase.

“In 2017 the investigators of the Prosecutor’s office detained 1 thousand 68 citizens without court approval… 573 people were later released from custody” – he said.

With regard to pre-trial investigation of police, according to human rights activist, in 2017 compared to 2013, tripled the number of acquitted persons by the courts in cases of remand prisoners to police, and was 356 people.

According to him, one-third of the 12 thousand 549 detainees in 2017, had been illegally detained. Bahanets also said that in 2017 the cases under investigation, the SBU, without the permission of the court was arrested 312 people.

Earlier it was reported that unknown persons smashed the car of the head of the Chernihiv center for human rights.
