Women in Ukraine earn significantly less than men
President Poroshenko told about the problems of gender inequality in the country. In particular, women receive lower salaries and pensions.
In Ukraine there is a difference in pay of women and men. On Friday, December 7, said President Petro Poroshenko during the Second Ukrainian women’s Congress, the press service of the head of state.
The President stated the need to take concrete steps to eliminate this negative phenomenon.
“Still, many challenges remain on gender inequality that need to be considered. One of them is the difference in pay,” – said Poroshenko.
According to him, the average pay for men is 21% above the average pay for women, although compared to year 2016, this difference was reduced by 4%.
“The consequences of severe inequality – retirement women today less than one third of retired men. This is unacceptable in conditions when in the structure of the poor population is dominated by retirees, 65% were women. This statistic demonstrates the need for specific measures to overcome them now,” the President said.
In turn the Prime Minister-the Minister Vladimir Groysman called savagery a situation where women receive lower wages than men.
Earlier in Kiev have detained foreigners who plundered women.
Recall that in Ukraine increased the average monthly salary. In the third quarter of 2018, it amounted to 9,063 thousand UAH.
