In Ukraine, the exercises begin clear skies 2018

This year the exercises clear skies 2018 will be attended by over 40 aircraft from nine countries.

In Ukraine on Monday, October 8, start of a multinational air exercises clear skies 2018 (Clear sky 2018).

In the 12-day exercises in addition to Ukrainian military pilots involved eight countries-members of NATO – Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Estonia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, USA.

These exercises are aimed at improving regional capabilities for the protection of the sovereignty of the airspace and consolidating peace and security through improvement of cooperation, interaction and compatibility between the Alliance partners and other allies in the region.

Clear skies 2018 will be the most ambitious in the years of independence of Ukraine. In them will take part more than 40 aircraft, and dozens of antiaircraft missile complexes, hundreds of military personnel.

The main base for training of combat aircraft will be the airport in Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnitsky region. Working out of tactical problems without the use of military weapons will be in the area of certain airports, mainly in the Western part of Ukraine, and also over the territory of Poland and Romania.

The Ukrainian side will be involved about 20 different types of aircraft, helicopters and drones, fixed and mobile radar units and mobile fire team of air defense units.

USA will provide both flight crews and ground forces and means, in General, in Ukraine there will arrive more than 10 units of aircraft (F-15C/D, C-130, KC-135, the UAV MQ-9) and several specialists from the number of ground technical staff, search and rescue teams, guard units, aeromedical evacuation, cyber security.

Together with Ukrainian and American pilots tasks in the sky will perform their Polish and Romanian colleagues on the F-16C.

During doctrines it is planned to work out the action in air cover and support to carry out common tasks on the landing of cargo and personnel, ensuring that they cover both day and night, support operations, search and rescue personnel, as well as the tasks for aeromedical evacuation.

According to the organizers, the teaching of Pure sky-2018 will contribute to security in Eastern Europe.

We will note, last week in Lviv region ended the multinational exercise Light Avalanche-2018.

As reported, in late October, the APU will take part in some of the largest in the history of NATO strategic military exercise Trident Juncture 2018.
