General Motors Corporation (GM) announced illegal seizure by the Venezuelan authorities of its plant in Valencia, writes CNBC.

“Yesterday, the plant’s GMV (General Motors Venezolana) was unexpectedly occupied with representatives of state authorities, which impeded the normal functioning (plant — ed). In addition, other assets such as cars, were illegally exported from its objects,” the company said.

The company said that the seizure would cause irreparable damage, it 2,678 thousands of workers, 79 dealers and suppliers. GM promised to go to court to protect their rights.

Earlier, Venezuelan authorities have seized the company. So, in 2014, the government announced the “temporary” takeover of two plants belonging to U.S. cleaning products manufacturer Clorox Co which has left the country.
