The armed forces agreed on the introduction of 3G in Zhitomir and Berdichev.

The General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine agreed on the use of mobile operators 3G base stations in Zhitomir and Berdichev. This was reported in the Ukrainian state centre of radio frequencies (UCRF) news Agency Interfax-Ukraine.

“Today we received the approval of the General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine on the use of 3G base stations in Zhitomir. On Tuesday, July 25, we plan to prepare and give mobile operators the appropriate permissions. I think that with the media, the residents of Zhytomyr will be able to use 3G,” said Executive Director of the UCRF Vadim Gulko.

He also stressed that Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell had applied for the introduction of 3G in this city.

The companies confirmed that the 3G connection in Zhytomyr will be launched in the near future after obtaining necessary approvals. So, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell are going to launch 3G in early August.

Note, Zhytomyr was the last regional centre, which has not been started 3G-network Ukrainian mobile operators. Run this town networks in the UMTS standard is possible only after the General staff of VSU the appropriate conversion frequency.

Recall that in November last year, the General staff authorized the use of 3G base stations in Kiev.
