Увеличение финансирования на нужды ГПУ не приведет к повышению эффективности ее работы, - Пискун

Former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Svyatoslav Piskun

Increased funding in 2017 for the needs of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine (GPU) will not increase its effectiveness. Such opinion on air of TV channel “112 Ukraine” was expressed by the former Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun.

“The law enforcement system cannot be reformed, creating a separate NABOO or dismissing 50% of prosecutors. Reform must be approached comprehensively. Frankly, when criminal procedural laws, which work today and which are flawed by the Verkhovna Rada, of course, the effective work of the Prosecutor’s office (with increased funding for law enforcement agencies – ed.) will, like other law enforcement agencies”, – he said.

As reported yesterday, 28 December, Law of Ukraine “On state budget” for next year were published on the Parliament website. The document will come into force on 1 January 2017.

Notably, in the budget for next year increased funding for the authorities and law enforcement agencies. In particular, the financing of the GPU is planned to allocate UAH 5 billion, i.e. increased by UAH 1.7 bn compared to the current year.
