The Ministry of justice of Italy asks to check the role in Rochelle another former national guardsman and current Verkhovna Rada Deputy Bohdan Matkiwsky.

Italian Andrea Zaninelli Prosecutor demanded to sentence to 17 years of imprisonment of the former Ukrainian soldier Vitaly Marcia. This was reported by the correspondent of Radio Liberty Natalia kudryk on his page in Facebook Friday, may 24.

According to her, the Prosecutor said in his closing statement at the trial, which takes place in Pavia.

Zaninelli also said that the Ministry of justice of Italy asks to check the role in Rochelle another former soldier, former commander Marcia, now the Verkhovna Rada Deputy Bohdan Matkiwsky.

It is noted that on 21 June and 5 July the court will hear the defense’s side, and July 12 can render a verdict.

We will remind, Vitaly Markiv was arrested in the summer of 2017 at the airport of the Italian city of Bologna. He was accused of the murder of photographer Andrea Roselli, who was killed by mortar fire on may 24, 2014. The national guard under stated that the Markiv can not be involved in this, as in the battalion. Of hero of Ukraine General Kulchytsky, in which were serving Sergeant Markiv, at that time there was not a single mortar.

It was also reported that in may, in the case Marcia gave testimony to interior Minister Arsen Avakov. Also in court were the acting commander of the national guard Mykola Balan.
