Ukraine appealed for help to Europe’s anti-corruption court

Ukraine has experienced difficulties with the appointment of judges at the corruption court. For three weeks, the documents for participation in competition were submitted by six candidates, with 39 posts

The Ukrainian authorities sent a request to the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland to help in the selection of judges for the Anticorruption court. On Tuesday, August 28, said the permanent representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe Dmitry Kuleba, reports mirror of the week.

“We sent an official request to the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe with a request that the COE participated in the selection of judges of the new anti-corruption court,” – said Kuleba.

According to him, the same appeal is directed to the Special Committee of experts of the Council of Europe mutual evaluation of combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism (MONEYVAL), as well as in the anti-corruption body of the Council of Europe GRECO (group of States against corruption).

Earlier it became known that for three weeks, the documents for participation in the competition for judges of the Anticorruption court was filed by six candidates, with 39 posts.

The High qualification Commission of judges expect that the formation of the anti-corruption court can be completed in six months in March 2019.
