Kiev does not receive IMF money in 2019 – analysts

Киев не получит денег МВФ в 2019 году - аналитики

The upcoming autumn parliamentary elections will not allow Ukraine to implement the IMF conditions in 2019, experts say.

Analitki JP Morgan believe that Ukraine will likely not receive a new tranche of the International monetary Fund in 2019. This is stated in the study of emerging European markets at JP Morgan, reports Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday 7 may.

“We do not expect payments from the IMF this year mainly due to the populist approach, unfulfilled conditions and government decisions “to liberalize” the price of gas just downward, at the same time introducing limits to increase,” the study says.

In their opinion, a decision on gas prices will have a negative impact on cooperation with the IMF.

At the same time, UBS analysts also predict a possible delay in the IMF program.

It is noted that the visit of IMF mission to Ukraine is scheduled for may-June, and the Parliament adopted amendments to the anti-corruption law after the decision of the constitutional court to abolish the article of the Criminal code on illicit enrichment.

“If progress is not, this may lead to delays in the IMF program”, – noted in the review UBS.

Previously, the Finance Ministry said that the decision of the Cabinet to reduce the price of gas for the population, corresponds to the commitments assumed by Ukraine’s program of cooperation with the IMF.

As you know, this year, Kiev expects to receive from the IMF two tranches of $ 1.3 billion.
