Russia to sue Ukraine at the London court.

Russia has agreed to defer the hearing of the case of the debt of Ukraine. About so reported the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

At the same time the Russian side, in the end, recognized the value of such deferral and decided not to waste court time on this issue, the solution of which Russia obviously would have lost”, – stated in the message.

The Ministry reported that Russia agreed to make concessions on the eve of the court session: “even if it is late, but still completely abandoned this position and agreed to provide additional time.”

Russia filed a lawsuit against Ukraine in London’s High court over a debt of three billion dollars on 17 February.

Ukraine had to respond to the lawsuit until March 4. However, on February 26 in Russia, again declared his readiness to negotiate on the debt out of court.

In December 2013, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Yanukovych agreed on a loan of 15 billion dollars. Under this program, bonds for three billion dollars were placed on the Irish stock exchange and bought by Russia.

The current Ukrainian authorities claim that the debt – commercial, and therefore should be restructured under the deal struck with other creditors. Russia insists that the duty of the state and requires a repayment in time, threatening default.
