Ukraine borrows from the EIB a new loan

The signed agreement will allow to attract loan funds of EIB for the financing of the project Ukrenergo’s substations.

Ukraine has signed agreements with the European investment Bank (EIB) on the financing in the amount of 211 million euros. The signing took place Thursday, may 24, with the participation of Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, reports UKRINFORM.

We are talking about the guarantee agreement between Ukraine and the EIB (project “the Program of increase of reliability of substations”) and the financial agreement between Ukrenergo and EIB.

The signed agreement will allow to attract loan funds of EIB for the financing of the project in the amount of €136 million, provided under the state guarantee for the long term (15 years) and low interest rates.

The aim of the project “the Program of increase of reliability of substations” is to increase the efficiency and reliability of work of UES of Ukraine for integration to the network of transmission system operators for electricity (ENTSO-E) by replacing outdated equipment and substation automation South-Eastern region of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the European investment Bank signed the financing Memorandum of the project “improving the safety of roads in the cities of Ukraine”.

To support the work towards road safety in Ukraine, the EIB, in close cooperation with the government of Ukraine has developed a project for improving the safety of roads in the cities of Ukraine, designed to improve the safety of roads in the country through investment in appropriate infrastructure.

Earlier, the Ministry of infrastructure has approved the six urban projects for the loan from the EIB.
