Criminal prosecutions of Oleksandr Klymenko is purely politically motivated, confident his defenders

Defenders only known about two criminal proceedings against the former Minister.

The ex-Minister of incomes and fees and the party leader “uspishna Kraina” Alexander Klimenko does not have the status of a suspect. Accordingly, all actions of the General Prosecutor’s office, which carried out investigation in respect of the policy are illegal. This was stated by the lawyer of the politician Tatyana Zhukovskaya at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday, August 29.

According to her, are not true statements of the Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko concerning the investigation of criminal cases against Klimenko and total loss of 198 billion. She noted that this amount exceeds several tens of times the amount that appears in criminal proceedings against Klimenko.

Zhukovskaya said that lawyers know about the two criminal proceedings against Klimenko, however, there did not appear the amount of damages that incriminated their client and which the public Prosecutor declared.

One criminal case Klimenko suspected of abuse of power, damage in the form of uncollected taxes in the amount of 126 million, and in another case, he is suspected of assisting in the misappropriation of 616 million hryvnias in compensation to a business entity VAT (both cases under investigation as of 2014).

“In connection with these weird statements in connection with these amounts, if the Prosecutor’s office will continue to do – ed.) such unconfirmed statements, we, the defense Klimenko, will appeal to the national courts on the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation of our client”, – said another lawyer Elena Klimenko.
