The Ukrainian foreign Minister thanked his counterpart for the continued support of the Finnish party to the Ukrainian initiatives within the UN.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with the foreign Minister of Finland Timo Soini at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, the press service of the foreign Ministry.

“Pavlo Klimkin thanked his counterpart for the continued support of the Finnish party to the Ukrainian initiatives within the UN aimed at countering Russian aggression, particularly in the adoption of resolutions of the UN General Assembly on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, observance of human rights in Russian-occupied Crimea, as well as the inclusion in the agenda of the current session of the UNGA new item “the Situation in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”, – stated in the message.

In addition, the Ministers discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and the failure of the Russian side to the Minsk agreements and the need to increase pressure on Russia to release political prisoners.

We will remind, earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Finland Sauli Niinistö discussed the importance of liberation of the Ukrainian hostages and prisoners. It was also reported that Finland will build a fence on the border with Russia.
