Ruslan Demchenko will now represent Ukraine at the talks in Minsk

Ukraine at negotiations will represent the former Deputy foreign Minister Ruslan Demchenko.

At negotiations of the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in Donbas on Tuesday, October 16, in Minsk, Ukraine is the presidential adviser Ruslan Demchenko. This was announced by first Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s representative to the Humanities subgroup of the TAG Irina Gerashchenko, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

“Today a meeting of the Trilateral contact group and working groups in Minsk. Today Ukraine during this meeting is the diplomat and presidential adviser Ruslan Demchenko,” – said Gerashchenko.

She also noted that the President later would appoint a representative of Ukraine in the TAG in connection with the abandonment of this post as the second President of the country Leonid Kuchma.

“The President of Ukraine and must declare the name. And 100% it will be Patriotic, professional man who will adequately represent the position of Ukraine in Minsk,” – said Gerashchenko.

We will remind, on Tuesday, October 2nd, it became known that Kuchma withdrew from the negotiation group in Minsk.

Kuchma believes that his successor may be Demchenko.

Note, Ruslan Demchenko is President, also the former representative of Ukraine in the Tripartite contact group.

In 2010-2014 Demchenko was the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In 1992-1996 he was the second Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States, 2000-2005 – Consul of Ukraine in Istanbul, the then Ambassador of Ukraine in Serbia and Montenegro.

In the late 90s, he was Deputy head of the administration of President Leonid Kuchma, in 2006-2010 he headed the Office of the third President Viktor Yushchenko.
