Yakov Smoliy

More than a year Ukraine was waiting for the revision of the program and receive the fifth tranche of the IMF for several reasons, including because of gas prices and the anti-corruption court.

Ukraine in the fall may obtain the fifth tranche from the International monetary Fund (IMF). This was announced by the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy in an interview ZN.UA.

“Fourth review of the program and receive the fifth IMF tranche, we expect to fall. Ukraine took on certain obligations. More than a year we are waiting for review for a number of reasons,” he said.

According to Smoliy, the first reason is the formation of gas prices on the principle of import parity.

“Under this commitment, the funding has already been received. But we are still not fulfilled. The reasons are clear — to raise gas prices before the election, nobody agrees”, he said.

The second reason, said the head of the NBU, the anti-corruption court bill, which this week approved the Parliament.

We will remind, on 7 June, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the anti-corruption court, which is one of the key conditions for continued cooperation with the IMF. Voted 315 MPs.

The IMF and other foreign creditors of Ukraine have insisted that this law was supposed to be fixed defining the role of international organizations formed the expert panel for the selection of candidates for judges of the Anticorruption court.

The second key condition for continued cooperation with the IMF, the implementation of this last spring the Ukrainian government promises to simultaneously increase gas prices for households to market levels.
